Earn Substantial American Airlines Miles With Rocketmiles Hotel Booking

American Airlines recently announced a partnership with Rocketmiles which is a hotel booking site similar to other more familiar sites such as Orbitz and Travelocity.  What separates Rocketmiles from their competition is that they award you significant airline miles just for booking through their website or phone based app.  After booking your hotel you will receive between 1,000-10,000 airline miles PER night!  As an added bonus, if you signup and book your first stay by 3/31/2016, American Airlines will credit you an additional 3,000 miles on top of what you earned for your booking.  To get started click the link below:

Let's run through a quick example to see how easy it is to quickly accumulate American Airlines miles by using Rocketmiles.

Using the above example, if you stayed one night at the Best Western Greenfield Inn in Allen Park, you would earn 6,000 AAdvantage miles for the hotel stay plus an additional 3,000 miles as part of the promotion currently being offered!  That's a total of 9,000 miles which will put you well on your way to earning a free flight to a dream destination!

Earn Miles For a Free Flight To Hawaii!

Now that you have followed my easy steps to getting setup to start earning points/miles, let's get started with your first free flight!

It's important to remember that becoming a vacation hacker is a marathon, not a sprint, so it does take time and consistent effort to sustain an ample supply of miles that will allow you to travel to destinations all over the world.  However, on this blog post I will walk you through a scenario where you can quickly earn a flight from Detroit to Honolulu, Hawaii.  The American Airlines flight used in this example will be for travel in October 2016.  A screenshot of the flight is below:

Flight departs Detroit 10/27/2016 and returns 11/3/2016.
As you can see, it will take 35,000 American Airlines miles to earn your flight.  See below for a quick way to earn the necessary miles to redeem your flight.

On the market for a new cable television provider?  Switch to DirecTV and earn 25,000 American Airlines miles.

Need a Valentine's Day gift for a significant other?  Use 1-800-FLOWERS through the AA shopping portal and earn 15/miles per dollar spent.  $150 = 2,250 miles.  While you're at it, earn an additional 2,000 miles by taking your significant other to a registered AAdvantage Dining restaurant and spend a minimum of $30.

Have Verizon Wireless and need to upgrade your phone?  Earn 4,300 miles by upgrading and turning in your old phone.

Signup for a Vinesse Wines Club shipment (6 bottles @ $6.99/each + free shipping) and earn 1,700 miles.  You can cancel at any time.

Participate in the above listed offers and you will have accumulated 35,250 miles which will cover your roundtrip flight from Detroit to Honolulu!!

As I mentioned earlier, think of mileage/point collection as a marathon and not a race.  Not everyone will be able to signup for the offers listed above but the offers are constantly changing and the earning potential is unlimited.  Stick with it and you will be on your way to your dream location in no time!

Disclaimer - I am not compensated by any of the companies that are referenced in my blog posts.  I'm simply trying to help people travel on a budget like I've been able to for years.

Earn Miles By Shopping And Dining!

Now that you have signed up for rewards programs through my recommended sites (Delta, American Airlines, IHG, and Hilton) we are ready to start accumulating miles/points that you will redeem for your next vacation.

On today's blog post, I will show you how to accumulate significant rewards miles just by doing things we all do every single day.  Shopping and Dining.    The points awarded for shopping and dining have the largest payout through the airline companies that you have previously registered for.  Unfortunately, this step does require that you signup for additional programs with American and Delta but I will walk you through those steps below.

Click on the links provided below and register for Skymiles Shopping (Delta) and AAdvantage eShopping (American Airlines).  Be sure to add both of these pages to your favorites list as they will be critical to earning your next vacation!  The shopping portals are a collection of retailers that offer a set amount of miles to be earned for every dollar spent.  The portals include hundreds of popular retailers so login and spend some time browsing through the retailers.  By utilizing the sort functionality of the portals, you can review which retailers are offering the largest mileage payout per dollar spent.  While signing up for the shopping portals it is absolutely critical that you link them to your corresponding rewards program numbers.

Now it's time to signup for the dining rewards.  Unfortunately, you can only sign up for one airline at a time so pick either American or Delta and register all credit and debit cards that you currently use.  If you already have miles with either airline, I would recommend using that one so you can grow your balance quicker. This can include cards from your significant other and or family members.  You can search for participating restaurants by area.  Be sure to check for places close to your home, work and other travel destinations.

Congratulations!  You now have the majority of the "paperwork" out of the way and you're ready to start earning your first flight.  In my next post, I will layout how you can earn your first free flight by purchasing everyday items and going out to eat.  Happy Travels!

How To Get Started With Vacation Hacker

As I type this post on a cold and snowy day in January, I can't help but dream about being in a tropical location with my feet in the sand and an ice cold drink in my hand.  Like many typical families with children, I cannot afford to pay thousands of dollars to hop on a plane and travel to my dream location.  Rather than saving money for years on end, I thought there must be a cheaper and quicker way to make my dream vacation a reality.

With lots of research, I have formulated a way to "earn" vacations to many different locations throughout the world with minimal money out of pocket for the actual vacation you decide to take.  In the past year alone I have traveled to Jamaica, Germany, and Hawaii with little to no money out of pocket.

Enjoying the view from my ocean front cottage in Hawaii.
All you need to do is pick a destination, follow my tips and directions, and you too will be on your way to your dream vacation.  The first thing you need to do is signup for rewards programs for the major airlines and hotels.  There are too many to list in one post so lets start with a couple of the most important ones. Click through the links below and setup your accounts.

In my next post I will begin to explain ways to accumulate miles that can be redeemed for travel to any location.  Vacation Hacking does take a little time and effort so stick with it and be patient.  Soon enough, you will be on your way to your dream vacation!
